Honours for OC "E" Company

Captain Shaun Elmstrom, "E" Company Commander was one of fifty six youth leaders from all over the UK who were recognised for their community based learning achievements. Admiral the Lord West of Spithead presented the awards at the CVQO graduation ceremony, at the prestigious Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, in front of colleagues, families and friends.

They were from among 88 adult volunteers from the Ministry of Defence's sponsored Cadet Forces to graduate with a City & Guilds Senior Award. Successful completion of these awards recognises at least five years of professional development and managerial experience.

Edward Woods, Chief Executive, CVQO, praised the volunteers' efforts saying: "The Awards which you have attained are held in very high regard. Not only do they demonstrate the importance and quality of the training that adults receive through cadet training courses, but they are highly valued within the world of work. We are immensely proud of all you have accomplished and whatever your ambitions, we wish you well for your continued success. On behalf of all of us at CVQO I congratulate each of you. "

Lifelong learning such as is available through CVQO and the cadet movement, remains very much at the forefront of Government thinking. Through its fundraising activities CVQO hopes to be able to expand what it can offer to young people and adults alike.

Captain Elmstrom was awarded the City & Guilds Licenciateship in Youth Leadership and Training and entitled to use the post nominals "LCGI". Congratulations from the Battalion. Captain Elmstrom joins CSM Bonner who also holds this qualification.
