I have been involved with the Army Cadet Force for 17 years, initially as a Cadet and more recently as an Adult Instructor. As a Cadet I achieved my Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards and participated in many residential weekends and camps. I completed my army cadet career with the rank of Cadet Regimental Serjeant Major in 1997 and rejoined as an adult instructor in 1998. When I became an Adult Instructor I was a platoon Serjeant training and instructing cadets at Saltash. I gained many qualifications including range qualifications and expedition leader training. I later became platoon commander of Launceston followed by Saltash and then Liskeard.  I have also had the great privilege of taking cadets to both Sweden and Australia as part of the Army Cadet Exchange programme.
I obtained the Queens Commission in 2002 and now hold the rank of Captain. Since then my varied roles have included Platoon Commander for three platoons and 2IC of Inkerman Company (Training Officer). 12 months ago I was appointed Company Commander for Inkerman Company a role that I thoroughly enjoy.
As an Assistant Principal at Lipson Community College in Plymouth I can honestly say that the experiences and qualifications I have gained in the ACF have had a significant and positive impact on my civilian career and vice versa.
I am very proud and privileged to command both the Cadets and Adult Instructors that are an integral and important part if Inkerman Company. Our motto incapsulates the principals we live by : Ab/Ex uno disce omnes (From one person, learn all people)

If you are a young person aged 12 or over why not joins us as a Cadet. Or if you are an adult why not consider joining our organisation.
Our Adult Instructors come from all walks of life many of whom have no previous military experience, you will be surprised what the ACF can offer you so why not come and talk to us. Visit one of our platoons on a parade night or for more information call our Headquarters.
