LORD LIEUTENANTS AWARDS
The Annual Awards Presented to members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces in Cornwall
Every year, Lady Mary Holborow, The Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, present's special awards to Cornwall's most dedicated Reservists, Cadets and Adult Instructors with the top honours of the Lord Lieutenant's Certificate of Meritorious Service and by appointing her Lord Lieutanant's Cadets for the coming year.
The ceremony normally takes place at the Alverton Manor Hotel in Truro, which offers the opportunity of honouring the determination and commitment of these young people and adults and to celebrate the value of their efforts.
The appointment of the Lord Lieutenant's Cadets is an annual honour awarded to a selection of the most promising young people from across the Cadet Forces. The Lord Lieutenant's Cadet assist Lady Mary Holborow with her public duties in the county, including royal duties. The responsibility is a great privilege for those chosen as it recognises the efforts they have put in to supporting the community, helping to develop the skills of other cadets and their own achievements in the fields of sport, cadet skills and charity work. Two members of Cornwall ACF were selected:
Cadet Serjeant Ben Johnson, 15, from St Mary's, Isles of Scilly. In his three years in the Army Cadet Force, Ben has not only taken an active role in fundraising for a number of worthy causes but his actions have helped increase the number of unit members.
Serjeant Paige Povey, 17, of Falmouth. An accomplished musician, Paige has taken full advantage of the opportunities available to her through the Peninsula Band and Bugles of Cornwall Army Cadet Force and is currently completing a BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts (Music) through the Cadet Vocational Qualification Office as well as undertaking her silver Duke of Edinburgh's award.

the Lord Lieutenant's Certificate of Meritorious Service
Major Paul Deakin, 32, of Redruth, (Battalion Training Officer Cornwall ACF), for his high level of commitment and determination to Cornwall's Army Cadet Force and his efforts, ensuring cadet star passes and adult qualification levels has risen steadily under his command.
Staff Sergeant Instructor Raymond Borman, 47, from St Austell, (Platoon Commander St Blazey), for his dedication to the Army Cadet Force, thanks to his love of adventure training, he has helped hundreds of cadets gain nationally recognised canoeing qualifications.
