LUCKNOW SPORTS CHAMPIONS

Cadet CSM Jamie Ayling with the Champion Company Trophy and Cadets from Lucknow Company
240 Army Cadets from all areas of Cornwall attended an Inter-Company Sports Competition at Penhale Army Camp; covering Soccer, Cross-country running, Archery, Orienteering, a One Mile Walk, and Rugby.
This was an opportunity for the Army cadets to participate in Team Events and to identify those who would later in the year to represent Cornwall Army Cadets at Regional and perhaps National level.
Many of the cadets attending were able to use these sports events towards their Physical Recreation Section of the ‘Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
The Champion Company was Lucknow Company which contains the platoons of Bodmin, St Austell, Truro, St Blazey, Newquay and Wadebridge. They won most of the events on the weekend including Rugby; Cross Country; Orienteering and The Climbing Wall.
In the evening all cadets were treated to a sumptuous Christmas Meal, served by all the Officers and Adult Instructors of the County, followed by a traditional Disco, but preceded by a range of music played by The Peninsula Band & Bugles of the Cornwall Army Cadet Force. This includes not only Bugles and Drums but also Saxophones, Flutes, Clarinets and Cornets.
The Champion Company Trophy was presented the Cadet Company Serjeant Major Jamie Ayling of Lucknow Company by The Deputy Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Les Donnithorne.
