Cadet Leadership Course

In July each year the Cadet Training Centre holds 3 week-long Cadet Leadership Courses for all MOD-sponsored cadet forces.  These are: the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and the Air Training Corps (ATC). Cadets from the Royal Canadian Army Cadets (RCAC) also attend on one of the weeks. Each course starts on a Sunday and ends after lunch on the following Saturday.

Aim.  To develop cadets' initiative and self-reliance by exercising them in problems of practical leadership.

Qualification.  Successful completion of the course assists cadets in qualifying for 4-Star.

Eligibility Courses are open to senior cadets of all Cadet Forces.  Cadets are to be between 16 and 18 years 9 months at the start of the course.  Candidates are required to have passed the following as the minimum qualification standard for attendance:

  • CCF Cadets: Army Proficiency Certificate
  • ACF Cadets: APC at 3-Star level
  • SCC/ATC Cadets:Equivalent qualification

Arrival Documentation. Students must arrive with the following documentations which will be issued with the Course Joining Instructions (JIs):

  • In-date WHT certificate on the Cadet GP L98A2 and (if possible) L86A2 (LSW)
  • Completed Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) form
  • Completed Medical ‘Fit to Attend' form

Bids for CLC. Separate instructions and a calling notice for bids was issued by CTC in early 2010. Each Course has 120 places.

Course Numbers & Dates:

  • 10/01: 4-10 Jul 10
  • 10/02: 11-17 Jul 10
  • 10/03: 18-24 Jul 10

Handy Hint: The course is physically demanding, so participants must be fit and reasonably strong.  Very unfit and overweight cadets may find some of the more strenuous parts of the course too much for them and may not satisfactorily complete every activity.  The particular entry standards are laid down in the Course Joining Instructions. Cadets who come on this course directly from a busy Annual Camp can also sometimes struggle.
