Visit of the Duke of Edinburgh

One of the major highlights of 2008 was the visit of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh to CTC Frimley Park on the morning of Friday 17 October 2008 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Centre's foundation. The visit was timed to coincide with the final day of the last Master Cadet Course of the year; the course was attended by 40 of the country's top cadets who were completing one of CTC's most prestigious and demanding training events.
During the morning The Duke reviewed the final Master Cadet parade before addressing the cadets, speaking warmly of the Cadet movement and the vital work carried out by its adult instructors. Of the Master Cadets he inspected, over 80 per cent had earned their Duke of Edinburgh's Award; the parade was led by RSM Liz McCaffrey, of Clwyd ACF, who had recently completed her own Gold Award.
