About Notts ACF
The Army Cadet Force (ACF) is a Ministry of Defence (MOD) sponsored voluntary youth organisation catering for boys and girls from the age of 13 to 18 years and 9 months. Cadets are trained and supervised by qualified volunteer officers and adult instructors who come from all walks of life. These adults willingly give up their free time in the evenings and over many weekends in order to do this. The ACF is established nationally and each county has its own cadet force.
We have 4 sub units, each with responsibility for a specific area within the County at large. These are:
A Company (The Rifles) has its headquarters at the Wigman Road TA Centre in Bilborough. There are 8 detachments of The Rifles in and around the City of Nottingham.
B (Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters) Company is the most northerly unit of the County ACF with its headquarters at Retford. There are 7 detachments in the Company.
C (South Nottinghamshire Hussars) Battery Headquarters is located at the TA Centre at Bulwell. There are 7 detachments in the Battery mainly in the area of Mansfield.
D (Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry) Squadron consisting of 7 detachments to the eastern side of the County has its headquarters at the Drill Hall in Southwell.
All detachments in the County parade between 1900 and 2100 hours on two evenings each week. For your nearest detachment, along with details of its parade evenings select one of the company on the list on the left.
