Nottinghamshire ACF Inter Unit Cross Country Competition Results: 17 February 2008, Proteus Camp

There was a strong turnout from all Units at the Inter-Unit Cross Country Competition with some excellent individual and team performances, the results were:-

Eastern Region Cross Country Championship - 2 March 2008 Waterbeach, Cambridge

The Notts Team faced stiff competition from 8 other counties and finished in 3rd place overall. L/Cpl Thompson of B Company won the junior boys event and our Junior Girls Team won the JG Team trophy, a superb effort all round. The following cadets represented Nottinghamshire and are awarded County Colours:-

ACFA National Cross Country Championships 15 March 2008 Warcop

As a result of finishing in the top 7 in the Regional Competition, the following cadets were selected to represent the Eastern Region in the National Championships.

L/Cpl Thompson M - Retford Det

Bdr Johnson M - Bulwell Det

Cdt Smith F - Sutton Det

Cdt Hurst L - Sutton Det

Cpl Payne K - Carlton Det

The running was a high standard and the track was challenging as it had lots of different terrains. We had to climb over fences and run through thick mud.

One girl was airlifted to hospital as she had broken her leg in two places when she tripped over during the running course.

The Eatern Region won the overall competition, with the senior boys winning their category too, of with Bdr johnson was a key member.

In the junior boys section, LCpl Matt Thompson won his event, closely followed by a scottish runner. The day was fun and well catered for and the members of staff that took us were very encouraging and helpful (WSSI Woolley, SI Haywood & Mj Atherton).

All of the notts runner came home muddy but with high spirits.
