SUFFOLK ARMY CADET FORCE
The Army Cadet Force is a national voluntary youth organisation. It is sponsored by the Army and provides challenging, military adventurous and community activities. The aim of the ACF is to inspire young people to achieve success in life with a spirit of service to the Queen, their country and their local community.
This is achieved by providing progressive cadet training, often of a challenging and exciting nature, to foster confidence, self reliance, initiative, loyalty and a sense of service to other people. The ACF encourages the development of personal powers of practical leadership and the ability to work successfully as a member of a team.
Adventure, Challenge and Opportunity
At Suffolk Headquarters a team of permanent staff are responsible for running the county organisation of some 600 cadets and 100 volunteer adult instructors. Cadets wear Army uniform which is provided and helps promote a sense of belonging and pride. The cadets are only asked to provide their boots and lots of enthusiasm!
There are 22 detachments in Suffolk, split into three companies: A Company, B Company and C Company. Each detachment is run by a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer who has committed their time and experience to help cadets progress through the Army Proficiency Certificate (APC) system. Alongside the APC topics the detachments also teach first aid, offer adventurous training opportunities, Individual and team sports at every level from detachment and regional competitions to national level. There are field trips to European battlefields and international challenges. Expeditions can range from a few nights camping Wales to Exchange trips to the USA! The ACF are also one of UK’s largest operating authorities for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The possibilities are endless and at Suffolk ACF we are committed to showing you how to ‘live the adventure’ If you are between the ages of 12 and 18 and want to know more please contact Suffolk Army Cadet Headquarters on 01473 252562.
