We've two new recruits. I'm going to get them parading for a few nights before I apply for their uniforms just to make sure they're enjoying life as a cadet.
I'm running the .22 rifle range to develop 2 star training squad's shooting skills. There's a course we need to do before we can run a shooting range which teaches all about how to run and supervise one safely. Shooting is one of the main reasons cadets join the ACF. The cadets love the competitions and after they've gone home I'll get my staff in for a shoot!
One of my cadets just returned from the Winter Mountain Skills course in Scotland. He learnt avalanche awareness, navigation, weather conditions, using an ice axe and even building a snow hole and sleeping in it overnight. I might apply for the course next year. We get offered ski and mountaineering courses in the winter.
