Sixty one Army Cadet Force Musicians and Drummers performed for over 5000 guests at the 5th Malta Military Tattoo over the weekend of the 11-12 October 2008.The event was held in the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta' Qali.
This year's national band was organised by Sgt Adrian Beckett MBE from the Band of the Welsh Guards. The band not only represented the Army Cadet Force, but also their Country. The ACF band were the only military band from the home nations.
The trip included a cultural visit to the Walled City of Valetta to see the saluting Battery and Barracks.
Highlights of the evening included Cadet Sergeant Hywel Dowsell who sang "This is the Moment" from the musical, Jekyll and Hyde and "Music" by John Miles, arranged by A Beckett, accompanied by the Massed Bands of the tattoo in the finale. The band performed at both evening events and also paraded through a local fishing village called Marsamxett. As they marched down the sea front, they stopped to perform the Last Post in remembrance of a local fishing crew who recently perished in a tragic accident at sea.The band then continued to the village square and concluded with a concert for the local population.
