Mill Hill School CCF in charity walk for The Army Benevolent Fund

 James Ellen recently completed a 1049 miles walk from Jon O'Groats to Land's End in 10 weeks and 1 day. He was raising money for the Army Benevolent Fund and Cancer Research.

 James was Drum Major, RSM and Head Prefect at Mill Hill School last year ... he continues to run the Cadet Band at Mill Hill.   Now in his gap year he has been commissioned into the Rifles CCF on the strength of Alleyn's and also helps at Mill Hill.   He is starting  a music Degree in the Autumn - he plays percussion, saxo-phone and flute.

In the last year he has qualified: CCF Advanced Course, St John First Aid, Obstacle Course instructor, Ammunition Storeman, Short Range, Ancillary Range Duties, Ski Instructor and finished off with the Long Distance walk covering 1049 miles in ten weeks and one day and taking in a  number of long-distance footpaths and climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon on the way.  

He carried 22 kilos of kit, has camped out most nights with the occasional hostel or bed and breakfast. He has given himself one day off a week and has walked alone apart from four weekend visits from his family and two CCF colleagues walking with him for one week.
