ACF Adult Volunteers honoured

 

The Army Cadet Force Association is proud to announce the following honours awarded to Adult Volunteers:

Colonel Bob Carruthers OBE - ex Warwickshire & West Midlands (South) ACF.

Major Robin Jones MBE - Clwyd & Gwynedd ACF. (Photograph)

Robin joined the Army Cadet Force in 1961 at the age of 14 and was a cadet at the Llanberis Detachment up until after his 18th birthday.

In June 1965 he returned as an Adult Instructor, serving as a Detachment Commander at Caernarfon and Penygroes, and achieved the rank of Sergeant Major Instructor.

He was commissioned in June 1971 and has served as an  Area 2 i/c,  Area Commander and was the County Training Officer for 8 years. Following his tenure as Training Officer, he was  appointed as  the Battalion Duke of Edinburgh's Award Officer.  He is now the DofE Award Advisor for ACFA Wales. In addition he is also the Public Relations Officer for The Battalion and the PMC for the Officers Mess.

During his 48 years with the ACF he has forged links with the local media, local businesses and local politicians and has successfully utilised these links to promote the ACF at every opportunity.
