Somerset Army Cadets do it again!

Somerset's International Winning Team for the past three years have this evening been awarded the title "Best Cadet Team at Nijmegen 2008", making it four years consecutively that they have been selected for this Award from among Cadet Force Teams from all over the World.

The Somerset Team, consisting of Army Cadets selected from all over the County, including Taunton, Shepton Beauchamp, Highbridge, Yeovil, Wellington (including Wellington School), Ilminster and Chard, completed their four-day 160 kilometre march  without one cadet having to drop out due to blisters or other complaint.

Warrant Officer Mac Cox from Taunton explained that the amount of training that the cadets who volunteer for Nijmegen have to do, hardens both their feet and their resolve.   It is sometimes difficult to select the 30 who take part in Nijmegen from the 50-plus cadets who volunteer.
