On Saturday 12th July 2008, at Victoria Barracks Windsor, the Corps of Drums of South East London Army Cadet Force became the first ACF Corps of Drums to adopt the lustre of the Coldsteam Guards Cap Star. Alongside our new parent unit, the Corps of Drums of the 1st Btn Coldstream Guards, under the direction of Drum Major Ben Roberts, the 42 strong Corps, marched onto the parade square to a rousing rendition of "Men of Harlech". As the 23 strong Cadet Corps of Drums broke ranks and reformed in front of the regulars, there were many favourable comments from the audience. The Commanding Officer of the 1st Btn Coldstream Guards, accompanied by the Sector Drum Major SELACF, then presented each cadet with their beret and Cap Star, personally welcoming the cadets into the Regimental family. Following a brilliant display consisting of "Highland Cathedral" and "Irish Drum Salute" the Cadets rejoined their counterparts, for a "massed" march off. Being part of the Regimental Family, is an exciting development for us in the Corps, as we now have professional mentors and open - ended training opportunities. It has taken us three years to bake the cake...............We are now simply putting the icing on it.!!!!!!!!!
