Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge 2008

The Jubilee Challenge is a trekking expedition on northern Dartmoor designed specifically for young people with special needs, both physical and educational.  Incorporated within Ten Tors in 1977 as the Special Event, it was renamed the Jubilee Challenge in 1996. Last Saturday 9 Students from Lufton College near Yeovil completed the Challenge. The students are part of an affiliated Cadet Unit of Somerset Army Cadet Force who parade one night week at the College. There are currently thirty members of the Unit with a waiting list to join. It is hoped to introduce the Duke of Edinburgh's and First Aid into their programme shortly. The College is sponsored by Mencap and prepares students with special needs for a more independent life.
